Our Priorities
Traffic Safety
Goals: The Traffic safety team aims to protect Glenview residents and businesses by addressing pedestrian safety on Park Boulevard. Recently, we have worked with the city on forthcoming improvements to the intersection at E 38th/13th and Park Blvd and are currently working with the Department of Transportation to implement safety improvements along Park Blvd between Hwy 580 and Hwy 13.

Community Safety
Recent and on-going work: The Glenview Neighbors /Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council Area 3, Beat 16Y recently worked with our community resource officers to conduct CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) walks in two areas of the neighborhood that were experiencing an uptick in criminal activity.
CPTED is not intended to solve specific crimes, but to prevent crime by designing a physical environment that positively influences human behavior. Read more about the CPTED philosophy here and here.
Diversity and Equity
Goals: The Diversity and Equity team aims to center equity in all of the Glenview Neighbors efforts. Our current focus areas are:
Supporting the Glenview Neighbors board in it’s own personal education about the history of racism and oppression in our communities and its far-reaching effects.
Grow participation in the neighborhood association to more accurately reflect the diversity of our community.
We are actively seeking neighbors who have experience in designing equitable systems, or those with racial or social justice backgrounds, to join our efforts.
Recent and on-going work: Since 2015, the GNA (which is also the Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council/ NCPC for Beat 16Y) has worked with Neighbors for Racial Justice and interested neighbors in sponsoring racial bias awareness forums and conversations. This programming included presentations on racist profiling and how to prevent it on Listserv posts and communications with OPD, and offered a community screening of “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity”. The GNA continues to support the equity-related efforts of OUSD and our neighborhood school communities including Edna Brewer’s Restorative Justice program and the declaration of OUSD schools as Sanctuary Schools.
